Peter Pan flies in at the nursery window of the Darling house looking for his lost shadow, and Wendy, John and Michael follow him to the Neverland, second to the right and straight on till morning. There they keep house for the Lost Boys, meet mermaids and the princess Tiger Lily, and fight the pirates of Captain Hook, who is hunted in his turn by the crocodile that swallowed his hand along with a ticking clock. Beneath the adventure runs a gentler, sadder story about growing up and the mother who always leaves the window open.
