About this book
Three years after Holmes was believed to have died at the Reichenbach Falls, he reappears in London in The Adventure of the Empty House, explains how he survived, and traps the man with the air gun who has been hunting him. Twelve more cases follow, among them the cipher of little stick figures in The Dancing Men, a missing heir at a boarding school in The Priory School, the blackmailer Charles Augustus Milverton, the six plaster busts of Napoleon smashed one by one, and a stolen state document in The Second Stain.
Context and significance
Conan Doyle brought Holmes back in 1903 after years of pressure from his readers and published these thirteen stories as a book in 1905. Twelve LibriVox volunteers read them in about eleven hours.
