Jerusha Abbott, the oldest orphan in the John Grier Home, is sent to college by an anonymous trustee on one condition: she must write him a letter every month and never expect a reply. She has glimpsed only his long, thin shadow on a wall, so she calls him Daddy-Long-Legs, and the book is made of her letters, funny, impatient and full of her new life, studies, friends and opinions, until she discovers who her benefactor really is.
Jean Webster published the novel in 1912, and it has been adapted many times, among them the Japanese animated series that Arab audiences know as Sahib al-Zill al-Tawil. Three LibriVox volunteers read it in about three and a half hours.
