A mild architect in Battersea finds a stranger lying dead in his bath, wearing nothing but a pair of gold pince-nez. On the same night a wealthy financier, Sir Reuben Levy, vanishes from his house. Lord Peter Wimsey, an aristocratic amateur detective who collects rare books and still suffers from his years in the trenches, takes up both mysteries with his loyal manservant Bunter and his friend Inspector Parker.
Published in 1923, this was Dorothy L. Sayers's first novel and the first case of Lord Peter Wimsey, who became one of the great detectives of the golden age of crime fiction. Kristin Hughes and Kara Shallenberg share the reading, about six and a half hours.
