About this book

Judah Ben-Hur, a young Jewish prince of Jerusalem, is falsely accused of trying to kill the Roman governor when a tile falls from his roof, and his boyhood friend Messala, now a proud Roman officer, has him sent as a slave to the galleys while his mother and sister vanish into prison. Saved during a sea battle, Judah is adopted by a Roman admiral, trains as a charioteer and returns to the East to defeat Messala in a great chariot race at Antioch, while his life crosses again and again with that of Jesus of Nazareth.
