Sobre este libro

Frank Gresham, heir to the old estate of Greshamsbury, which his father has burdened with debts, is told by his family that he must marry money. But he loves Mary Thorne, the penniless niece of the village doctor, whose birth is a family secret. Doctor Thorne alone knows that Mary is also related to Sir Roger Scatcherd, a former stonemason turned rich railway contractor, who is drinking himself to death and whose fortune may decide everyone's future.

Contexto e importancia

Published in 1858, the third of Anthony Trollope's Barsetshire novels, Doctor Thorne was the most popular of his books in his lifetime, and it still pleases readers with its gentle comedy about money, class and love. Read Barchester Towers and Framley Parsonage.
