À propos du livre

Ebenezer Scrooge, a miser who answers every Christmas greeting with Bah, humbug, is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his dead partner Marley, dragging the chains he forged in life, and then by three spirits. The Ghost of Christmas Past shows him the boy and young man he once was, the Ghost of Christmas Present the cheerful poverty of his clerk Bob Cratchit and the sick child Tiny Tim, and the silent Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come a death that nobody mourns. He wakes on Christmas morning a changed man.

Contexte et portée

Charles Dickens wrote the story in six weeks in 1843, partly to pay his debts, and it did much to shape the modern Christmas. Five LibriVox volunteers read its five staves, about three hours.
