关于本书

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife, and Mrs Bennet, with five unmarried daughters and an estate that will pass to a cousin, means to see the truth acted upon. When the rich Mr Bingley rents a house nearby, the eldest, Jane, falls in love with him, while her quick-witted sister Elizabeth takes an instant dislike to his proud friend Mr Darcy. Misjudgments, a charming officer named Wickham, a pompous clergyman's proposal and a younger sister's elopement must all be got through before Elizabeth and Darcy see each other clearly.

背景与意义

Jane Austen published the novel in 1813, and its comedy of manners and marriage is still the most loved of her books. Thirteen LibriVox volunteers share the reading, about thirteen hours.
